DIN Rail Supplies have optional ATEX Certification for use in Hazardous Locations

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Power Sources Unlimited, Inc. presents the TSP Series, a new generation of high performance DIN-rail power supplies with innovative and powerful features. Featuring a rugged metal case, complete with shock and vibration proof construction, the TSP Series is designed to provide reliable power even in the most difficult factory conditions.
Excellent electrical specifications and high immunity against electrical
disturbances makes the TSP series product the best choice to power
sensitive loads in industrial process controls, machine tools or other
demanding applications. A high power reserve guarantees a reliable
start-up of loads with high inrush currents such as motors.

150-watts Isolated Open Frame 24VDC ATX DC/DC Converter (P/N: MPD-815H)

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Sunnyvale, California - March 26, 2007 - Magic Power Technology Inc. introduces the new 150-watt MPD-815H 24V DC input to ATX output power converter. The MPD-815H is designed to be convection cooling, is RoHS compliant, and fits within 1U height constraints. It is an idea power source for a wide variety of DC input industrial applications and embedded devices.

The MPD-815H provides U-channel chassis for efficient heat conduction. This design not only increases the reliability and the performance but also reduces the dust into the system and has no noise to influence the environment. It is compliant with UL 60950, operates over a wide 18 to 36 VDC input range, and provides short-circuit, over voltage and thermal protection. This MPD-815H offers competitive densities without performance deratings from 0 to 50°C.

Powerstax High Efficiency Power Supply Selected For Energy Saving Lighting

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Powerstax plc, the Farnborough UK based manufacturer of high efficiency DC:DC converters and application rich power solutions have been selected to supply a turnkey power solution to EcoLEDLighting, market leaders in LED lighting systems. EcoLEDLighting has recently launched its new Part L Compliant, fully dimmable MR16 lamp replacements, which reduce heat output by 80% and use 75% less energy. To enable the company to develop prototypes into production designs, EcoLEDLighting went looking for a power supply company that was able to fulfil the specific requirements that were essential for this new LED lighting technology. Powerstax provided one of their trademark added value systems comprised of a high efficiency, ultra-compact 10W AC to DC, universal input voltage, encapsulated power supply mounted on a PCB with a variable LED driver circuit to adjust the output in order to vary the intensity of the LED light. When in full production the whole unit will be a lead-in, lead-out “lump in a cord” design with a remote control interface. Dell Inc. Listing High Efficiency Power Supplies on 80PLUS

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

As of today, 2 March 2007, Dell has four power supplies listed on the 80PLUS.org website.

While the listing is several months after the competitor HP posted its high efficiency power supplies, the Dell units have significantly better efficiency and the potential of saving more energy and money.

This may be the first signal that Dell is taking the right steps to regain the crown as the leader in worldwide PC sales. It cannot regain the leadership just by squeezing the direct sales model. It has to do more, such as proving that it can be a technology leader.
