New Inductance Filter In Switching Power Supply

The inductance of the new filter: 80μH, output DC current: 200A and volume : 132×171×30mm.

This new design method comes from a novel concept. Once high frequency ferrite magnetic core adopted, the results were as follows:

N Aw Ae
2 2.5 160 cm²
5 6.25 64 cm²
10 12.5 32 cm²
12 15 26.667 cm²
20 25 16 cm²
According to this data, while designing the inductance filter L., the below result can be get:

N=2 Volume:3489.3 cm³
N=5 Volume:1840.2 cm³
N=10 Volume:1626.3 cm³
N=12 Volume:1666.6 cm³
N=20 Volume:2024.4 cm³
Choosing N=5 where the instance that the loop circle count and volume is less, we get the volume and dimension of the inductance filter L(200A 80uH,working frequency > 80KHz). Its gas gap of magnetism way is 2×1.25mm,and the volume is 1840.2 cm³.

What we know after this example? The volume of filter designed according to traditional method is 2.73 times comparing to the volume of filter designed according to new method, although the traditional method adopt more constrictive.

The constrictive design make the spoilage of copper loop reach 36W. for the spoilage, with the lower current density(J=2.46), the spoilage of copper loop is 21.7W, the volume is over to 3.62 times.
