SELV-certified 400-watt Medical Grade ATX Power Supply

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

The new 400-watt MPM-842P medical grade has been introduced by Magic Power Technology Inc. This device is designed for medical equipment that require higher operating power.

The device is compliant with UL 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1, meets EMI IEC 60601-1-2 Class B, operates over a wide 90 to 264VAC input range, and provide short-circuit, over voltage and thermal protection.

The MPM-842P is a great choice for medical applications and offers competitive densities without performance deratings from 0 to 50°C. The device has active power factor correction, CE Mark for the European Low Voltage Directive, isolating the groundings between primary and secondary.

New Inductor Technology

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

A new inductor technology, much more efficient than the previous one, has been announced by West Coast Magnetics.

It combines the low DC resistance of a foil wound inductor with the low AC resistance of a litz wire wound inductor. The technology fits with the newer classes of silicon devices designed to operate at current levels of 100 amps and up and at frequencies over 10 Khz.

“Very simply, this new technology, will lead to the use of smaller and lower cost inductors for a host of very important developing power electronic applications in the energy field. Wind energy, hybrid vehicles, solar energy and many other environmentally friendly energy technologies rely on continued improvements in power electronics, and power inductors are one of the main building blocks of virtually all power electronic equipment.” said Weyman Lundquist, President of West Coast Magnetics.

Power Supply For Energy Saving Lighting

Friday, March 14th, 2008

EcoLEDLighting has recently introduced fully dimmable MR16 lamp replacements. They reduce heat output by 80% and use 75% less energy.

To fulfil the specific requirements for this new technology, EcoLEDLighting needed to find a company that was able to meet the reqirements. Powerstax provided systems comprised of a high efficiency, ultra-compact 10W AC to DC, universal input voltage and encapsulated power supply. The product will be a lead-in, lead-out “lump in a cord” design and will have a remote control interface.

Isolated Open Frame 24VDC ATX DC/DC Converter

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The new 150-watt MPD-815H 24V DC input to ATX output power converter has been introduced by Magic Power Technology Inc. The device is RoHS compliant, fits within 1U height constraints and is designed to be invention cooling.

It provides U-channel chassis for heat conduction. The design increases the performance, reduces the dust and has no noise. The MPD-815H operates over 18 to 36 VDC input range and provides over voltage and thermal protection.

DIN Rail Supplies For Use In Hazardous Locations

The TSP Series by Power Sources Unlimited provide good power even in the most difficult factory conditions. They have rugged metal case, complete with shock and vibration proof construction. The device is the best choice for power
sensitive loads in industrial process controls, machine tools or other hard applications.

Standard models are available with adjustable output voltages of 12, 24 and 48VDC, and have ratings up to 25A. The operating temperature is between -25 degrees C to +70 degrees C. The power supplies provide thermal overload protection and have remote on/off.

The TPS series are safety approved. The product has recently been expanded and TSP-WR Series were introduced. Their voltage range of 85 to 550VAC which enables the models to be used in almost any single or 3-phase power network in
the world.

Power Supplies Mounted in NEMA 4X Enclosures

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

The new device by Acopian meets the safety regulations and applications requiring allowance for environmental conditions. The enclosures provide protection from dust, other airbone particles, dripping, splashing liquids and prevent accidental contacts by personnel.

To the initial offerings, power supplies with higher wattage outputs have been added. Outputs up to 30 watts are available from mini power supplies mounted in NEMA enclosures with a footprint of 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.
