Switching Power Supplies with 450 Watt Outputs

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

A new smaller model of low-profile switching power supplies has been introduced by Acopian. All models have constant voltage/constant current crossover andĀ models with wide output voltage ranges can be adjusted down to 0 volts. Both voltage and current can be programmed with 0-10V control voltage inputs.

Other options are provisions for N+1 redundancy and paralleling for higher current. The devices feature universal input, PFC, ’soft start’ operation, ‘Vout ok’ indicator and “no load” operation. The height of the power supply is only 1.7″.

High Power GaAs Amplifiers

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. has introduced GaAs FETs. The device can be used in microwave radio s and block up converters.

Two new X-band GaAs FETs for microwave digital radios support point-to-point and point-to-multipoint terrestrial communications , whereas the TIM1011-2UL and the TIM1011-8UL, operate in the 10.7 to 11.7 GHz1 range. The TIM1011-2UL has an output power at one-dB gain compression point of 2W, or 33.5dBm, linear gain of 9.5dB and power added efficiency of 36%. The TIM1011-8ULĀ has an output power at one-dB gain compression point of 8W, or 39.5dB m , linear gain of 9.0dB , and power efficiency of 39%.

NCP1654: Power Factor Controller

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

The NCP1654 is a controller for Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) Power Factor Correction Step up preconverters. The device controls the power switch conduction time and is dependant on the instantaneous coil current. It also simplifies the PFC implementation and minimizes the number of external components.

The device features brownout detection, a programmable overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection, programmable overpower limitation, continuous conduction mode and undervoltage detection for open loop detection.
